It was hyped as essentially Mega Man 9 meets New Super Mario Bros. Now, Sonic must counter Eggman's offense and save the world from the doctor once again.Įpisode I was released on iOS, Wii, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC, and Android. Eggman seeks revenge on his perpetual arch-nemesis by rebuilding his best Badniks to go on a hedgehog hunt. The story is simple: Mad Scientist and aspiring world conqueror Dr. Each episode has four Zones with four Acts each (not including the final Zones), making for a decently-sized downloadable game that Sega initially designed to test the waters for classic Sonic's return. It's an Episodic Game, with only two episodes released. Sonic the Hedgehog 4 is a side-scrolling platformer developed by Dimps that is a throwback to Sonic's roots on the Sega Genesis, as well as being a response to the series' Polygon Ceiling-related criticism. Then we’d have basically all the games that make up the original stories on iOS: Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD, Sonic 3, Sonic & Knuckles, Sonic 4: Episode 1, and Sonic 4: Episode 2.The ones where the franchise went back to 2D, but was still 3D! On that same note, please Sega for the love of all things good and dear in this world please please PLEASE greenlight the remastered release of Sonic 3 & Knuckles that was teased in the fall of 2014.
#Sonic 4 episode 2 worh i? update#
Although it’s never been broken by iOS, I sure wouldn’t mind Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 1 ($2.99) getting a little update love with some widescreen action. Now that Sonic 4: Episode 2 has been fixed, I’d like to go ahead and list my dream demands for other things Sega could do to make me a very happy person.

Impressive! The update notes also state that the crash on boot-up when you tried to bypass the intro cutscene has also been fixed. It’s actually kind of amusing to see them nail three different iOS versions all in one update. It’s not great that it’s taken more than two years for Sonic 4: Episode 2 to get an actual proper fix, but it’s appreciated nonetheless. Well, this strange rollercoaster is finally coming to an end as Sonic The Hedgehog 4: Episode 2 is finally back on the App Store along with a fix for iOS 7, iOS 8 AND iOS 9. By this time the game had been pulled from the App Store, but it wasn’t really clear why it was working again in the first place and the game never was put back up for sale, but it was still available to previous buyers through the Purchased tab in the App Store.īy the time iOS 9 came around later in the year, I’m not even sure if anyone knew if it was still working or what its deal was. iOS 8 came along about a year later and still didn’t play nice with Sonic 4: Episode 2, but strangely enough in May of last year with the release of minor update iOS 8.3 one of our forum members noticed that the game was magically working again under the new iOS release. Perhaps it’s because Sonic’s fanbase is extremely impassioned and didn’t take too well to Sonic 4, but as someone who both loves Sonic and who quite enjoyed the Sonic 4 games (though they’d never hold a candle to the original trilogy and Sonic CD), I was pretty darn bummed when iOS 7 broke Sonic 4: Episode 2 back in 2013.ĭespite being broken, Sega continued to sell the game, and there was no indication an actual fix was in sight. Out of all the high-profile iOS games that have been broken by iOS updates and removed from the App Store in the past year or so, poor little Sonic 4: Episode 2 (Free) has flown under the radar more than any other.
